Susan C. Athey
Principal
Susan Athey is Professor of Economics at Harvard University and a
Principal of MDI. Her research focuses on auction theory and the statistical
analysis of auction data. Professor Athey has also published on a wide range of
topics in industrial organization, including market dominance and collusion.
Before joining Stanford, she was the Castle Krob Career Development Associate
Professor of Economics at MIT, as well as Visiting Assistant Professor of
Economics at Yale University. Professor Athey was a National Fellow at the
Hoover Institution. She was awarded a Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship, as
well as the American Economic Association's Elaine Bennett Research Award. She
was the subject of feature articles in the New York Times, The Boston Globe, and
The Dallas Morning News. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Duke
University in Economics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, and her Ph.D. in
economics from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.
